I’ve mentioned many times on this blog how much I like to craft for good… I mean, most of the time I make things that just sit around my already full home… so making gifts or things that I can donate makes crafting just seem so much more efficient! (and I like to help people, obviously)
Weiden and Kennedy is a pretty amazing ad agency in Portland, and they have an equally impressive (and competitive) internship program called WK 12. These WK12 kids (well grown ups) regularly put on cool events and art shows around the city. This month is no exception, their event is called ‘Insert Change Here’ and they have collected vintage vending machines to fill with hand made goods for people to buy. How cool is that? Not to mention the proceeds go to help pay for art programs in Portland public schools. I jumped on the opportunity to help them fill the machines, and figured bow ties are something I have made before (check out my tutorial) and I knew I could make them pretty quickly and inexpensively. To fit into the vending machine I needed to package them some how so I cut clear vinyl to the size on an M&M package and sewed it closed… in the end I am happy how they turned out! (hopefully they sell!)
So, if you are in portland this next week stop by Weiden and Kennedy in the Pearl and buy some art! Here is their site with more details and pictures of some of the other art that will be filling the machines!
As always, if you know of any other crafting for a cause projects that I should help with leave me a comment… I am always looking for more!

Tate!
These are awesome! I think I need to commission you to create one for Rhinoceros.
If the WK show is still happening, I’m totally swinging by tomorrow!
Nice work!
