long distance hug

by tate on October 10, 2011

I really like to leave Sean with a pile of love notes when he leaves town. Every trip he takes these notes take a different form, but I really like to give him something to have with him in person that add to the millions of emails, texts, and skype convos! When he is gone for 2 months I have to get creative! This was one of the first notes he had to open on his current trip… and one that I totally remember making with my mom when I was little out of paper… bringing back the oldies but goodies! ha

Here are the super easy directions to make your own long distance hug! I made it out of scrap muslin that I had, but you can make it out of anything really…. even paper.

fold your fabric (as long as you want your “hug” to be) in half and trace your hand on the non-folded edge.

use a ruler to draw a straight line from the wrist of your tracing to the folded edge (make sure the lines are 90 degree angles to the fold)

cut it all out!

write a note and put it into an envelope- EASY!

This is a great project to do with kids…. it would be perfect to do if a parent is leaving town on business, or to send to your kid if they are at summer camp… endless possibilities!
