Are you headed to Portland for World Domination Summit? You’re going to love this city, I promise!
I love this city… just ask my boyfriend Sean who makes fun of me every time we drive over a bridge and I tell him “I love Portland!” – I just can’t help myself, it’s a great city!
As you know, Sean travels a lot, and while he’s gone, I explore Portland. I figured what better way to welcome you to our town than to overload you with information and great Portland spots that I’ve discovered during Sean’s travels!
This is my brief guide to PDX made specifically for those of you out here for the World Domination Summit. Enjoy!

For you crafters coming to town, I have a little extra love for you… obviously!
If you make it into town a little early, Thursday is 1st Thursday in the Pearl district. Basically that means that all of the galleries in the Pearl district are open late. The artists will be there as well as wine and snacks.. Also there is a little bit of an “art walk” set up on 13th street between basically Kearney and Flanders. Local artists and crafters set up booths to sell their goods, there are street performers, and tons of great people watching. Worth checking out if you are in town! (starts at 6 goes till 9 ish)
A short list of craft shops to check out:
The Button Emporium: this is a tiny little store crammed packed with new and vintage trims, buttons, and ribbons… it is AMAZING!
1016 SW Taylor
Friday 130-530, sat 11-3, Sunday and Monday closed
The Oregon Leather Co. : talk about a crazy place… any leather you could possibly need you can find here… plan crafting projects accordingly!
110 NW 2nd
mon-fri- 8-5, sat 10-5
Knit-Purl: a Yarn/ knitting shop in the middle of it all. There are knitting shops all over, but this is probably the closest to WDS, and is big and wonderful.
1101 sw alder
Canoe: I tried to avoid actual stores, because honestly that is a whole can of worms I didn’t want to open… but this is an AMAZING gift shop full of local goods (and other beautiful goods from around the world) that I couldn’t pass up… check it out, I bet you will be walking past it anyway.
12th and alder
There are about a million (that might be a bit of an exaggeration) local boutiques that sell local designers/ small designers from around the US… so seriously pop in any small store you see… remember no sales tax in Portland!
If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to let me know via twitter! (@tatecreates)… I will be around all weekend!

Thanks for creating this guide, I’ll be sure to use it and recommend it.
